Marvin Radford, Jr.

Marvin Radford, Jr., affectionately known as “Bud”, of Laurel Hill went to his heavenly home, at the age of 85, on Friday, May 9, 2025. He was born July 17, 1939 in Marlboro County, SC, son of the late Marvin Radford, Sr., and Isabelle Brigman Radford.

Marvin was a faithful servant of God and a beloved member of New Hope Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his shop, and watching the Atlanta Braves.

On August 22, 1959, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Norris Radford, and together they shared 65 wonderful years.

Marvin was a gifted sewing machine mechanic who enjoyed the craft. He often said, “If you love what you do, you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” He was a dedicated employee of Charles Craft, the Umbrella Factory, and co-owned Radford’s Child Care for thirty-seven years. Upon retiring, Marvin continued servicing machines and built many lasting relationships with the people he met along the way.

Marvin is preceded in death by his sons, Mark Edward Radford, Sr., and Marvin Dewayne Radford; siblings, Charles Radford, George Radford, and Hazel Radford; and his son-in-law, Roddy Henry Watts, Sr.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Carolyn Norris Radford of the home; his son, Thomas Laverne Radford of Laurel Hill; and daughter, Anita Radford Watts of Laurel Hill; his brother, Robert Radford (Barbara) of McDonough, GA; brother-in-law, Billy Ray Norris (Mary) of Laurel Hill; along with eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and extended family and many friends.

The family would like to thank the care team provided by Gentiva Hospice for their tireless efforts, excellent care, love, and support.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Pinecrest Cemetery.    Visitation will be held one hour prior to services beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
