Marie (Wike) Love

Marie Wike Love passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. Marie was born on February 11, 1923, in Catawba, NC, to Rowe Wike and Helen Hunsucker Wike. She is predeceased by her parents, her four brothers, and her husband, Robert R. Love. She leaves behind four children: Glenda Milholland Hall (Larry) of Stony Point; Dan Milholland (Velva) of Holly Springs, NC; Deborah Love Hobbs (Wayne) of Laurinburg, NC; Freida Love Stanley of Charleston, SC, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held later.

Marie and her husband, Robert, loved the outdoors and loved plants of all varieties. They owned and operated Love's Lawn Service in Charlotte for many years. They took pride in their large vegetable garden. Marie was a wonderful cook, often incorporating garden vegetables into their meals. One of the favorites was meatloaf, baked potatoes, fresh green beans, fried okra, and sliced tomatoes. Another passion was camping. They spent several months every year seeing as much of the United States (and Canada) as possible. When traveling was no longer an option, they spent summers in a campground in the mountains of North Carolina.

Moving from Charlotte to Scotia Village in Laurinburg in 2014 meant leaving behind a beautiful yard, neighbors, and Paw Creek Presbyterian Church. But before long, they made friends in their new home. The family wishes to thank the kind and loving staff at Scotland Regional Hospice and at Farmhouse in Scotia Village for years of excellent care.
