Maria Guadalupe Chavez-Fonseca Musgrove of Laurinburg, NC departed this life at the age of 94 on November 18, 2025.
Born November 12, 1931 in Chihuahua Chihuahua, Mexico, she was the loving daughter of the late Medardo Chavez and the late Maria Luisa Fonseca. Along with being a homemaker she worked for many years as an Executive Assistant. She was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Maria’s talents were many, she was an extremely gifted artist specializing in woodcarvings, stained glass, creating beautiful sculptures, stunning watercolor paintings and acrylics. She loved to travel and cherished her trips with daughter, Marcela to Rome, Paris, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and China. Maria also traveled on her own to Portugal, Spain, and with her church group to Poland. She was an adored mother and friend who will be dearly missed.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by husband, Walter Musgrove: and sister, Gloria Martha Chavez.
Maria is survived by daughter, Marcela Christina Musgrove; along with a host of loving extended family here in the United States and Mexico.
A Catholic mass service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church with burial following in the Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton.
