Marguerite Driggers Smith of Laurinburg passed away at the age of 90 on July 14, 2026. She will deeply be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
She was the daughter of the late John Allen Driggers and Della Strickland Driggers born May 1, 1936 in Clio, South Carolina. She was the loving wife of 62 years to the late Benny Wright Smith who passed in 2016. She was a faithful homemaker, retired after many years in textiles and enjoyed working in retail with Belk. She served as a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, enjoyed her time baking, gardening and loved her time spent with family.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sons, Benny "Benjie" W. Smith Jr., Martin Dale “Mickey” Smith; and sister, Kathleen Driggers Clayton.
Marguerite is survived by her children, Benny W. Smith III of Laurinburg, and Debra "Debbie" Smith Ogilvie of Franklinton; adored grandchildren, Tanner, Paige, Shane, Connor, and great granddaughter, Caroline. She also leaves her extended family and many friends.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel followed by the graveside interment in Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation will be held prior to services beginning at 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
