Marguerite Brown Oxendine

Marguerite Starkey Brown Oxendine, age 74 loving mother to seven beautiful children passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

Starkey was born September 11, 1950 to the late Harry and Hollis Brown in Latta, SC.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Leon Oxendine; son, Joshua Leon Oxendine; sister, Gayle Moore; and three grandchildren.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, three sons and three daughters, Regina Bailey of Fairmont, Jackie Bailey (Junior) of Wadesboro, Larry Tunstall (Ronnie Lynne) of Laurel Hill, Gilbert Chavis (Joyce) of Pembroke, Jessy Bailey of Pembroke, Jesica Wilkes (Robert) of Lumberton; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a dear sister, Helen Cox.

Marguerite fondly known as Starkey was a loving, caring, generous, and all-around incredible woman. She was blessed with seven children, whom she raised on her own. Starkey was a cool mom but was also strict and meant business when needed. If anything ever happened good or bad with her children she was always there to support and encourage them.

She served her community as a paramedic for ten years, when she wasn’t working, she was spending time with her children. Starkey was always helping someone else and putting herself last; whether it be financially, mentally, or physically. If you had her in your corner, you definitely had a winning team. Starkey was an awesome person with a huge heart who will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following at Robert Floyd Cemetery in Fairmont. 

Visitation will be held prior to services from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
