Margaret Doris Locklear Brigman, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and devoted friend, passed to her Heavenly home at the age of 78 in the early morning of June 27, 2026. She will be deeply missed by all blessed to have known her.
Margaret was the daughter of the late Alex Ervin Locklear and Myrtle Locklear born April 5, 1948 in Marlboro County, South Carolina. She was the loving wife of the late James “Buck” Brigman who passed away in 1973. She dedicated her life to the love and care of her family and others as a caregiver for the young and elderly. She loved her career of over 25 years with the Scotland County School System in Food Services. During this time, Margaret also joined the staff of Wal-Mart where she worked for 20 years as a service associate greeting and caring for customer needs always with her loving smile.
Margaret was raised in the Oak Grove Baptist Church then served in the East Laurinburg Church of God until she was called home. Her life of service continued in the community as a volunteer with the American Red Cross and Scotland Memorial Hospital. She was a people person and blessed with many loving friends. Margaret also enjoyed doing yardwork and especially traveling to the beach. Above all, she cherished her time shared with her family.
Along with her parents and husband Buck, she is preceded in death by grandson, Joshua McKenzie; step children, Alan Brigman, Chris Brigman, Dean Brigman, brother, Eugene “Buddy” Locklear, Craig Locklear; sisters, Mildred “Millie” Reppert and Carloyn Taylor.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Deana Nicol Brigman of Laurinburg; step son, Richard Brigman of Roxboro; brother, Billy “Bill” Ray Locklear (Terena) of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Christian Blake McKenzie, Gavon Brigman; great grandchildren, Caydon McKenzie, Braxton McKenzie, Braylee McKenzie; aunts and uncles, John and Janice Locklear of Myrtle Beach, SC, Bobbie and Dawson Carr of West End, NC, Sarah Frances Palmer of Marrietta, GA; and her devoted special friend, Winston “Billy” Williams of Laurinburg. She also leaves behind a host of loving extended family, her church family and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30th at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
Margaret over came cancer a number of times with the caring help of the staff of Scotland Memorial Hospital Cancer Center of which she considered family. Memorial donations are requested to be given in her memory to the Scotland Memorial Hospital Cancer Center, 500 Lauchwood Drive, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
