Margaret Revels

Margaret Strickland Revels, age 89 of Maxton, NC, departed this life for her Heavenly home on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Scotia Village.

She was born in Robeson County, North Carolina on December 8, 1935, loving daughter of the late Somerset “SS” and Hayes Lowery Strickland. Along with being a devoted homemaker, she worked as a seamstress with Converse for many devoted years until retiring.  Margaret faithfully served as a founding member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, sewing, and shopping trips. Margaret loved people and took great pleasure in visiting with others and also enjoyed cooking a delicious meal. Her greatest joy came from time spent with family especially her grandchildren. Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, adored aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, LeRoy Revels; daughter, Deborah Lynn Miller; grandson, Roger Hoyet Strickland; and siblings, Graham Strickland, Somerset Strickland, Jr., Danny Strickland, Stanton Strickland, Eddie Strickland, Fannie Strickland, Willmyner Strickland, Ruby Staples, and Flora Jane Locklear.

Left to rejoice in her memory is son, Leroy Revels, Jr., and wife, Tara of Pembroke; daughters, Linda Henely, Sandra S. Dial of Maxton, Jenny Pat Deal and husband, Lee of Rowland; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and special caregivers at the Clubhouse at Scotia Village, Ms. Linda Williams, and Marcia Evette of Dillon, SC; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with burial following in Strickland Family Cemetery. 

A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.

The family requests memorial donations be given in her memory to the Shady Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 9003 McFarland Road, Laurel Hill, NC 28351.
