Malcolm "Dwayne" Wright Obituary

Malcolm “Dwayne” Wright, age 59 of Laurel Hill passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021.

Dwayne was born August 4, 1961 in Dayton, Ohio, son of Patsy Ann Odom and the late Malcolm Wright. He worked as the transportation supervisor for Edwards Wood Products, where everyone appreciated the job Dwayne did for the company. He was a faithful member of Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church. During his high school years, he enjoyed playing baseball. Dwayne was an avid NASCAR fan, loved a good cup of coffee, hunting, and especially loved animals. The times spent with family were his greatest joy, especially with the grandchildren.

Along with his father, he is preceded in death by a son, Christopher “Chris” Chavis and grandson, Blake Wright.

Dwayne is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Chavis Wright of the home; children, Malcolm Adam Wright (Bridget) of Sunbury, OH, Carrie Wright of Chalfont, PA, Ashleigh Mann (Eric) of Clarksville, TN, Ryan Doren (Lauren) of Aberdeen, Rickie Lee Doren of Laurinburg; mother, Patsy Ann Odom of Laurinburg; sisters, Pam Adams (Jim) of Laurinburg, Kim Bayha (Tom) of Waxhaw; grandchildren, Payton Wright, Jillian Cardinal, Anna Belle Mann, Jacob Mann, Ethan Mann, Cadyn Graves, Blaze Goins, Chrisleey McCormick; nieces and nephews, Jeff and Allison Adams, Matthew and Mary Caitlan Adams, Daniel Bayha, David Bayha; special family friend, Jennifer Ciparco-McCarthur, along with his extended family and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests for memorial donations to be given to the Humane Society of Scotland County, 1401 West Blvd, Laurinburg, NC 28352

 

COVID restrictions require facial masks or covering with social distancing and limited attendance for all services.
