Lula Anna Bryant Obituary

Mrs. Lula Anna Dial Bryant was born on August 11, 1931 in the Smith’s Township of Robeson County to Jona & Goldie Dial. She left to be with the Lord on May 26, 2025. She was preceded in death by the following loved ones: her parents, her husband of 67 years, Samuel Bryant, one brother, Peter Dial, a son-in-law, Teddy Locklear and four sisters-in-love, Mary Lee, Erma, Melree and Arree.

Her memory will live on in her children, Connie Boutselis (Chris), Paul Bryant both of Maxton, NC, Tammy Woods (Brian) of Aberdeen, NC, and Justin Bryant (Courtney) of Vass, NC; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren: along with special family friends, Curmit Davis and James McDougald.

Mrs. Lula was a strong, independent woman who loved a good fishing hole and growing vegetables and flowers. She owned and operated a little country store at a time when folks came in for a Pepsi as much as they did friendly conversation. At that little country store you could gas up your car, grab a square nab and feel a sense of love. If your money was short and your word was good, you could get it all on credit. Mrs. Lula helped countless families and served her community well as a business owner and a friend.

Mrs. Lula’s service extended beyond her community to her church, Cherokee Chapel, as well. She cared for babies in the nursery for numerous years and most recently she was blessed to be called “Mother of the Church”, a title she relished in.

Her love grew thru the years, just when you thought she couldn’t love anymore, another baby came along and another generation came to be and her love seemed boundless. She was a true matriarch who cared for and protected us all. She lived a selfless life, putting the needs of others before her own. She was blessed beyond measure with long years and love. We are thankful to have called her mama and believe that she has gone on to a reward in Heaven.

Words fall short & seem insufficient when saying thank-you to the family and friends who have so faithfully stood by and supported mama through these years of failing health. Just know that all your kindness and love is appreciated more than you could ever know.

A special debt of gratitude is expressed to those who cared for Mrs. Lula daily - Minnie Brewer, Tonya Locklear, Ashleigh Baker, Brenda Locklear, Brittany Deese, Brittany Demery, Alice Garby, and the wonderful health professionals with Liberty Hospice will forever hold a place in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Cherokee Chapel Holiness Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
