Linda Norton Mumford

Linda Norton Mumford, age 73 of Gibson passed away to her Heavenly home Thursday, June 17, 2021.

Linda was born November 22, 1947 in Marion County, South Carolina, daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Norton and Flossie Cribb Norton. She retired after years of service from Waverly Mills Industries. Linda was a faithful member of Gibson Pentecostal Holiness Church where she loved worshiping the Lord and served as a Sunday School teacher, secretary and treasurer of the Church. She also loved cooking, planting flowers and good singing. Linda loved everyone, but most enjoyed spending time with family, especially the grandchildren. She will forever be remembered as a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who leaves a legacy of true love for all.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by son, David Mumford; brothers, Grover Cleveland “Buddy” Norton, Jr., Grover James Norton; Lila Mae McDonald, Mary Norton Haney, and Virginia “Tiny” Herring.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Charles “Richard” Mumford, Sr. of the home; sons, Charles Richard Mumford, Jr. of Leland, Harris Manning (Regina) of Laurinburg, Randy Jones (Sherry) of Lexington, SC; daughters, Rachel “Denise” Mumford, Marie Fields (Jeff), all of Laurel Hill, Melissa Haney Rossi (Paul) of Laurinburg, Lisa Fluke (Tim) of Statesville, NC; sister, Peggy Williamson (H R) of Marion, SC; fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Rev. Thomas Buck and Rev. Frankie Rogers. Burial will follow in Rogers Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2021 at the funeral home.
