Mrs. Lillie Evadean Biggs Deaton of Laurinburg passed to her Heavenly home at the age of 97, four days shy of her 98th birthday. She was a loving grandmother, sister, aunt and beloved friend who always shared her beautiful smile and joyful spirit with all she encountered. A special lady who will deeply be missed.
She was born February 19, 1928, a loving daughter of the late Seth and Mabel Tucker Biggs of Greensboro, NC. Eva was a graduate of Trinity High School and Bryce Commercial College of High Point where she was first employed with Occidental Life Insurance Company. She married in 1946 her high school sweetheart, Herman Deaton, Jr., and they had 60 years together before his death in 2006. Herman began employment with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company on the day he graduated from the University of High Point and during his career they experienced many transfers with the company. Finally in 1962, they purchased a small Goodyear Store in Laurinburg and began working together at Herman’s Tire & Appliance Company, Inc., happily serving Scotland and surrounding areas for 44 years. Eva also managed the NCDMV License Plate Agency located in their store until the age of 83.
Since her childhood, Eva served as a devoted member of the Bunker Hill Primitive Baptist Church of Kernersville, NC traveling many miles for services along with serving as the church clerk. She also served as the clerk of the Salem Associations annual meetings. In recent years, Laurel Hill Baptist Church became her church home where she loved to worship Christ and support the youth of the church.
Along with her parents and husband, she is predeceased by two sons, Barry Herman Deaton in 2014 and an infant son, Mark Dean Deaton in 1963; two sisters, Pauline B. Farlow (late Tom), and Irene B. Kennedy (Bill).
Eva is survived by two grandchildren, Rebecca Marie Deaton Galardo, her husband Tony of Georgia, and Mark Herman Deaton of Laurinburg, NC; a great grandchild, Jade Deaton of Ohio; her sister, Donna Biggs Fulp, her husband Charles of Winston Salem, NC; and she loved being Aunt EE to her precious nieces and nephews.
The funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. in Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church followed by burial in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will have a time of visitation prior the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
