Leslie "Les" Wayne Ward of Laurel Hill, NC departed this life at the age of 81 on Monday, March 18, 2024.
He was born in Great Bend, Kansas on May 17, 1942, son of the late Melvin Aaron Ward and the late Hazel Fanshier Ward. Leslie proudly served in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division and the Army National Guard of North Carolina. He was the owner and operator of Ward’s Heating and Cooling serving many customers in Scotland and surrounding counties until his retirement. He truly missed spending time with his customers and others following retirement. Leslie faithfully served as a member of the Laurel Hill Baptist Church, enjoyed working in his yard, and bird watching. His greatest joy came from sharing time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leslie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will dearly be missed.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce W. Kincaid and Melda Johnson.
Left to cherish Leslie’s memory is his adored wife of 60 years, Helen Douglas Ward of the home; son, Darin Ward of Laurel Hill; daughter, Dawn Everett (Darrell) also of Laurel Hill; grandchildren, Leslea Everett Prunty (Kevin), Logan Everett, Dylan Ward (Blythe); great-grandchildren, Lex Ward, Stricker Ward, and Everett Prunty; along with a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held prior to the services on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Laurel Hill Baptist Church.
