Lela Mae Skipper Milligan of Laurinburg, a beloved mother and grandmother, devoted aunt and caregiver, who was known by many as “Midge” passed to her Heavenly home at the age of 84 on February 27, 2025.
She was born October 30, 1940, one of five children of the late John Telbert Skipper and the late Lillie Mae Grant Skipper of Marlboro County, South Carolina. In addition to being a homemaker, Lela worked many years with the Eaton Corporation until retiring. She also loved her time while being a caregiver to those in need. She enjoyed attending and worshipping at the Salem Emanuel Holiness Church until her healthdeclined. Lela was a wonderful cook and sharing meals with her family and friends brought her great joy. She also enjoyed spending her time working in her yard. She treasured her family and sharing time with each of them, especially “all” of her grandchildren. Lela will dearly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Jonathan Milligan; brothers, Howard Skipper, Telbert Skipper, Jr., Ellie Skipper and sister, Edith Swartz.
Midge leaves behind her children, sons, Donald R. Milligan (Michelle) of Lula, GA, Thomas Milligan (Karen) of Laurinburg, NC, Willie Milligan (Denise) of Surfside Beach, SC; daughters, Deborah Adkins (Jimmy) of Laurinburg, NC, Betty Weekley (John) of Graniteville, SC, Kathy Ledwell (Bobby), Gail Milligan both of Laurinburg, NC; twenty grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.

The family wishes to acknowledge all of the loving care provided to Ms. Milligan in her times of need with special recognition to Dr. Mary Catherine Moree and Dr. Steven Kent.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. followed by the service at noon. Burial will follow the service in Hillside Memorial Park.
