Lawrence Thomas "Kingfish" King, age 68 of Laurinburg passed away to his Heavenly home Sunday, September 13, 2020.
Lawrence was born May 8, 1952 in Richmond County, son of the late Lawrence Hugh King and Pauline Brown King. He retired after 32 years of service from the Campbell Soup Company. He loved his work and enjoyed collecting Campbell Soup memorabilia. Lawrence served as a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed volunteering with the “Project In As Much” Ministry. He volunteered with Relay for Life as well as serving with the Laurinburg Volunteer Fire Department. Lawrence was an avid UNC Tarheels and NASCAR fan. He never went without keeping his eye out for a good deal when shopping. Lawrence most enjoyed spending time with his family and will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Hugh King, Jr.
Lawrence leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Patricia “Pat” King of the home; son, Robbie Norwood (Denise) of Roanoke Rapids; daughters, Debbie McQueen (Chuck) of Laurinburg, Lisa Smith (Brad) of Hagerstown, IN, Lori Lowrance of Laurinburg; brother, James King (Kathy) of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Leslie Gilmore, Kara Winterstein, Jeanie Everett, Nicolas Herndon; six great grandchildren; along with his nieces, nephews; his many friends and four fur babies.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Don Malpass and Pastor Kyle Wyckoff. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church.
