Lauramae Jones Snead Haywood

Lauramae Jones Snead Haywood, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend departed this life at the age of 63 on December 20, 2024.

Lauramae was a daughter of the late Halbert Lyon Jones, Sr., and Julie Estella Hurley Jones, born December 14, 1961 in Scotland County, NC. She was the loving and devoted wife to the late James Harrison Snead, and second husband, the late James Ricky Haywood.  She was a hardworking woman who enjoyed her work with State Farm Insurance. She formerly worked many years as an operator with BellSouth and member of the Telephone Pioneers.  She had a special love for animals which led to caring for them at the Pembroke Animal Hospital.  Lauramae was also a Notary Public along with being a Real Estate Agent.  She served as a faithful member of Peele’s Chapel Wesleyan Church, loved caring for her animals, enjoyed dancing and being a collector. Lauramae’s greatest love and joy came from sharing time with her family. She will be dearly miss by all she knew and loved.

Along with her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by brothers, David M. Jones and Donnie B. Jones; step daughter, Coty Garnette Haywood.

Lauramae is survived by her daughter, Karen Snead Locklear (Brad) of Maxton; adopted daughter, Amy Dial (Jonathan) of Laurel Hill; step son, Ricky Dalton Haywood of Laurel Hill; brothers, James “Jimmy” McRae Jones (Veronica) of Rockingham, Halbert “Buddy” Lyon Jones, Jr., of Maxton; sisters, Alice LeEtta Russell and Emily Jones Craven both of Maxton; grandchildren, Zackery Clay Locklear, Jason James Snead Elliott (Jaslynn), Joseph Adam Locklear  (Haylea), Landon Kane Locklear (Courtney); great grandchildren, Ryver Kayne Locklear, Avarie Jade Locklear with another one on the way; she is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and surrounded by love from her fur babies.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Adam Smith.  Burial will follow the service in the Snead Family Cemetery.   Visitation will be on Friday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
