Lattie Barker Starling, Jr.

Lattie Barker Starling, Jr., age 86 of Laurinburg passed away Friday, May 10, 2019.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the East Laurinburg Church of God. Burial with military honors will follow in Laurinburg Memorial Park.

Lattie was born May 18, 1932 in Wayne County, son of the late Lattie Barker Starling, Sr. and Lydia O. Hall Starling. He was the loving husband of the late Mary Stubbs Starling. He was a Veteran who proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War Conflict, then retiring after many years as a controller for Rostra Precision. He was a member of the East Laurinburg Church of God. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and gardening, and working on his car and truck. Lattie loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Stubbs Starling; brother, James Starling and brother in law, Jack Andrews.

He leaves behind sons, David Starling (Cindy) of Gibson and Tim Starling (Anita) of Laurinburg; sisters, Lydia Ruth Andrews of Long Island, NY, Mary Alice Jernigan (Jack) of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Amber S. Hilbourn (Stacy), Lily S. Ball (Tim), Carol “Crickette” Leviner (Jamie), Daniel Starling; step grandson, Oscar Martinez, Jr.; eight great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2019 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
