Pastor Larry Locklear, age 70 of Gibson passed to his Heavenly home on Sunday, September 5, 2021.
Larry was the son of the late Lewis and Pearlie Bullard Locklear, born January 7, 1951 in Hoke County, North Carolina. He was a United States Army Veteran and recently retired after many years of dedicated service with the Scotland County Maintenance Department. He faithfully served the Lord and loved being the Pastor of Sweet Home Pentecostal Fire Baptized Holiness Church in Elizabethtown, NC. He cherished his family and especially spending time with his granddaughter. Larry loved people and sharing Christ’s blessing with all he encountered. He also enjoyed wood working, carpentry, electronics, mechanics, and especially fishing and hunting. A devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, Larry will truly be missed.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by brothers, Lewis Locklear, Stacey Locklear; sisters, Dorothy Locklear, Sarah Brooks and a God daughter Desiree Lockey.
Larry leaves behind his devoted wife, Annie Ruth Whitehead Locklear of their home in Gibson; son, Joseph Locklear of Gibson; his granddaughter, Marianne Ruth Locklear; God daughters, Danielle Blackwell of Hamlet and Alicia Hunt of Laurinburg; brother, David Locklear (Marie) of St. Paul; sisters, Lillian Cummings (Richard) of Aberdeen, Linda Locklear, Carolyn B. Locklear both of Maxton, Janice Locklear of Red Springs, Pearlie Locklear of Laurinburg, along with a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and his church family.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the McColl Pentecostal Fire Baptized Holiness Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, at Richard Boles Funeral Service with Covid mandate restrictions.
In his memory, donations are requested to given to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Due to the current status of the COVID 19 pandemic, wearing of facial mask, social distancing with limited attendance for all service is requested.
