Kathy Ann Strickland Locklear, age 69 of Maxton departed this life on April 11, 2026.
She was born October 23, 1956 in Robeson County, loving daughter of the late Angus “Buck” Strickland, Jr., and the late Katherine Oxendine Strickland. Kathy began her career at Scotland Memorial Hospital before working as a Nurse Supervisor with the North Carolina Department of Corrections devoting many fulfilling years taking care of others. She attended Sandhill Community Baptist Church where she loved to serve and sing for the Lord. Kathy enjoyed cooking a wonderful meal, baking a tasty treat, and looking after her beloved cats and dogs. Above all, time spent with family meant the world to her. She was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by brother, Marvin Lewis Strickland.
Left to cherish her memory is her adored daughter, Chloe Locklear of Maxton; brother, Luther “Pete” Strickland, Jr., (Andrea) of Winston-Salem; sisters, Juanita “Nita” Strickland and Barbara Locklear (Hank) each of Maxton; niece and nephews, Marvin Lee Strickland (Patsy), Chelsie Danielle Chavis (James), and Angus Daniel Strickland; great-niece, Madison Danielle Chavis; and aunt, Evelyn Soles of Laurel Hill; along with many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 beginning 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Sandhill Community Baptist Church with burial following in the Oxendine Family Cemetery.
