June Spears Obituary

Mrs. June Grey McAdams Spears, beloved wife, loving mother and Nana passed to her Heavenly home at the age of 83 on October 1, 2023.

June was the loving daughter of the late Walter and Sally Culberson McAdams born December 24, 1939 in Burlington, North Carolina.  She married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Spears on October 6, 1962 and together shared a beautiful life together raising their precious family in a loving Christian home.  Along with being a homemaker, June worked as a sales associate for Belk and the Western Electric Company sharing her loving smile with all she encountered.

June faithfully served the Lord as a member of Freedom Baptist Church where she loved serving as a Sunday School Teacher and any place needed for church activities. She loved to sing and her beautiful voice could be heard singing in the church choir each week. She also served along with Bob in Gideons International as a member of the Gideons Ladies Auxiliary.  June was committed and made intentional efforts in sending cards of encouragement and genuinely prayed for others. When anyone requested prayer, she took that to heart and lifted them to the Lord in prayer.

Family was her life, just sharing time together with those she loved the most, whether during holidays or birthdays, and especially attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events. Nana became her given name by the grandchildren which became her loving name for all.  She also enjoyed her time cooking, especially her famous chocolate pies, gardening and shopping.  June leaves a legacy of love and memories to all of her loved ones. She will dearly be missed until we meet again.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Earl Spears; brothers, Dalton McAdams, Leonard McAdams, Richard McAdams and C.W. McAdams.

Mrs. June leaves behind her devoted husband, Robert “Bob” Earl Spears of their home; daughter, Deborah Spears Brown (Terry) of Rockingham; daughter-in-law, Deborah “Debbie” Spears-Adeimy (Allen) of Hamlet; grandchildren, Tyler Brown (Jerry Leigh), Andrew Spears (Megan), Evan Spears (Leah), William “Will” Spears (Cierra); great grandchildren, Sophia Spears and Levi Spears.  She is also survived by a host of loving family, her church family and many devoted friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Freedom Baptist Church with burial following in Eastside Cemetery.  Family will receive friends following the service at graveside.
