Joyce Tyler Lowery was the loving daughter of the late Joseph Tyler and the late Gertrude “Luck” Locklear Tyler born January 13, 1948 in Robeson County, North Carolina. She was a devoted homemaker and the former loving wife of 55 years to Benjamin Franklin Lowery. Joyce faithfully served the Lord and loved being a member of Charity Outreach Church of God where she enjoyed helping with the church activities. She had a rewarding career in Human Resources with JP Stevens, Inc. for over 35 years, then retired as a Billing Specialist from Scotland Memorial Hospital. Serving God, being a mother and Nana, making a happy home and cooking for her family gave Joyce her greatest joy. She also enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel Christmas movies. Joyce passed to her Heavenly home at the age of 75 on September 23, 2023 leaving a legacy of love for her family to treasure.
In addition to her parents, preceding in death are brothers, Joseph “Little Man” Tyler and Timothy “Pap” Tyler; sisters, Gertie “Moosie” Lowery, Reba Lois Locklear and grandson, Noah Lowery.
Joyce leaves her sons, Benjamin “Ben” Franklin Lowery, Jr., of Laurinburg, Sandy Steven Lowery (Melisa) of Gastonia; her daughter, Carolyn Joyce Lowery ( William ) of Cherryville; brother, Nelson Tyler, and sisters, Mary Lois Lowery, Evelyn Sullivan and Linda Tyler; grandchildren, Nikki Hunt (Craven), Dustin Lowery (Blake), Brianna Lowery, Jordan Lowery, Jacob Lowery, Christian Lowery; great grandchildren, Mahala, Makenna, Maalia and Mason Hunt, Dakstyn, Brantlee, Jakayden, Ryker, and Kinsley Lowery. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews and a host of loving family.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel followed by burial in Hillside Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
