Josua Locklear was born August 8, 1953, loving son of the late Jeromie and Margaret Lowery Locklear of Scotland County, North Carolina. Josua, affectionately called "Joe," worked many years with Wagram Paper Stock. Joe called Prestwick Assisted Living in Laurinburg, NC home for over 19 years. There, he made many friends who became family to him. After giving his heart to the Lord in 2023, Joe began to come out of his shell. There are very few services that he didn't stand up and tell of the goodness of God. Although he wasn't a man of many words, his testimony was, and still is, a remarkable encouragement to us all. Joe passed to his Heavenly home at the age of 71 on December 26, 2024. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Along with his parents, preceding him in death are his infant son, Jerry Barton; brothers, Franklin Locklear and Jerry Locklear; sisters, Sarah Pearl Locklear and Joyce Lockler; a special brother, Lewis J. Locklear.
Joe is survived by his son, Josua Junior Locklear of Maxton, NC; daughter, Kelley Chavis of Pembroke, NC; brothers, Rev. Furman Locklear (Tina) of Wagram, NC, Steve Locklear of Wagram, NC, Andrew Locklear (Jeannie) of West End, NC, Jonathan Locklear of Wagram, NC; sisters, Pandora Bullard of Maxton, NC, Dorcas Chavis (Harlen) of Maxton, NC, Grace Locklear of Gibson, NC, Kathy Locklear (Chris) of Marston, NC; grandchildren, Isaiah Chavis, Josiah Chavis, Kaleb Chavis, Paul “PJ” Chavis, all of Pembroke, NC; and a great grandchild, Rayliana Chavis of Pembroke, NC. He also leaves behind his special friend, Ms. Dorothy Danos; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews and his extended family and many friends.
