Josephine Britt Dent

Josephine Britt Dent, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend departed this life for her Heavenly home at the age of 87 on September l4, 2024.

She was the daughter of the late Elbert and Marjorie Wallace Britt born July 28, 1937 in Robeson County, North Carolina.  Josephine enjoyed her career in the bakery industry retiring after many years of service with A & P Bakery.  She loved reading her Bible, serving as a member of the Calvary Way Baptist Church, and also enjoyed listening to WSTS Gospel Radio.  

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Eartle “Buddy” Dent; brothers, John Charles Britt and Freddie Britt; sisters, Jean Britt Haire, Susan Britt Huggins, and Frieda Margaret Britt.

Josephine is survived by her children, son, Mike Dohogne (Pat) of Granite City, IL; daughters, Beverly Barker (Johnny) of Bessemer City, NC, Jo Ann Johnson (Roy) of Maxton, NC; sisters, Barbara Ann Fikis (Bill) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, and Donna Britt Carter (J.D. “Buck) of Laurinburg, NC; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

Graveside services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the Gardens of Faith Cemetery, Lumberton, NC, officiated by J.D. “Buck” Carter.    The family will receive friends following the service at graveside.
