Joseph “Connie” Bailey, age 78 of Laurinburg passed away to his Heavenly home Thursday, July 23, 2020.
Connie was born March 21, 1942 in McDowell County, West Virginia, son of the late Charles Newton Bailey and Dora Malinda Brewster Bailey. He retired after many years in the automotive industry from The Volkswagen Company. While living in West Virginia, he served as a member of the Church of God of Prophecy where he enjoyed serving as deacon and driving the church bus. He served as a faithful member of the Wagram Church of God, loved listening to gospel and bluegrass music. He also enjoyed gardening, working outdoors and watching a variety of sports. Connie loved to helping and spending time with others, especially with his family.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda C. Bailey; brothers, Charles Bailey, Jr., Raymond Bailey, Arnold Bailey, Clarence Bailey; sisters, Marie Bailey, Juanita McDonald and Rosalee Latosiewicz; and step-son, Wayne Dameron.
Connie leaves behind his wife, Patsy Bailey of the home; son, Joseph Bailey (Amelia) of Indonesia; daughters, Deanna Morgan (Vince) of Laurinburg, NC, Helen Kuelbs (Lesley) of Vale, NC; step-son, Mark Dameron of Laurinburg; sisters, Lucille Honeycutt of Lothian, MD, Mary Click of Gap Mills, WV, Janice Bailey of San Antonio, TX, brother, Harold Bailey of Weston, MD, Roger Bailey (Millie) of Taylor, MI; sixteen grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2020 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Rev. Ricky Brewer. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Due to the current COVID-19 Mandates and to ensure public safety, facial masks or coverings are requested and attendance for services will be limited.
