Johnny Taylor

Mr. Johnny Ray “Bird Dog” Taylor of Gibson, NC passed away at the age of 61 on March 9, 2025 at Scotland Memorial Hospital. 

He was born in Scotland County on May 24, 1963, son of John K. Locklear and the late Mollie Mae Taylor. Johnny was a very stubborn, yet dedicated hard worker that loved farming and his work with Futrell Farms. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and time spent with family, especially his grandchildren. Johnny will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte R. Taylor of the home; daughters Jennifer A. Taylor also of Gibson, Jessica R. Deese and son-in-law Kirby W. Deese of Rowland; father, John Locklear and sister, Judy Duran of Laurinburg; and his most precious grandchildren, Arlenea Dial, John “Dakota” Broussard, Ayden Taylor and Ruby Deese; along with many loving extended family and friends. 

Johnny’s memory will live on in the hearts of the people who were blessed to have known him. As he would have said had he been with us today, “hold it down until next time and keep it between the ditches”. 

The family is planning a private service at a later time.
