John "Buck" D. Locklear

John D. “Buck” Locklear, age 76, formerly of Lumberton passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019.

Buck was born October 20, 1942 in Robeson County, son of the late Joe Hoss Locklear and Ruby Mae Oxendine Locklear. He worked many years as a painter in the construction business and was an avid Ford man. Buck loved his family and spending time with them was his greatest joy.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Chavis, Sarah Cummings, Ruby Ellen Locklear and Vastie Herring.

Buck leaves behind his daughters, Peggy Hunt Davis of Rowland, Delisa Locklear of Lumberton; sisters, Mady Hunt of Rowland, Lucille Brock and Francis Oxendine, both of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Mallory Jacobs, Erin Davis, Tristan Locklear, Tayvin Blue; great grandchildren, Lakyn Jacobs, Nolyn Jacobs; mother of his children, Versie Jones of Rowland and a host of many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Thursday at the funeral home. A private interment will be at a later date.
