John “Johnny” Duckery Seales Jr, born November 25, 1946, passed away leaving a legacy of love, service, and dedication to his family and community.
Johnny was born at home in Gibson, North Carolina, to the late John (J.D.) Duckery Seales Sr and Frances Lucille Parker Seales. A lifelong resident of the area he was known as a devoted father, loyal friend and a handyman to everyone- always willing to lend a helping hand.
He faithfully attended St. Johns Methodist Church and proudly served his community as a Gibson Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years. Johnny also honorably served his country in the United States Navy.
For many years, Johnny owned and operated Seales Plumbing where his strong work ethic and integrity earned the trust and respect of countless families. He later worked as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, a role he greatly enjoyed and in which he formed lasting friendships throughout the community.
In his quieter moments, Johnny found joy in annual trips to the beach, where he loved to fish and body surf, especially when surrounded by his grandchildren. These cherished trips created memories that will be treasured for generations.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents John (J.D.) Duckery Seales Sr and Frances Lucille Parker Seales (AKA: White Haired Granny), daughter Loree Seales and granddaughter Diana Benfield. Brother-in-Laws Roger Thompson, Gordon Parker, and Billy “Skeet” Willams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Olean Thompson Seales of Gibson, NC, daughter Marie Seales Icard (Jamie), Barney Ga, son J.D. Seales, Gibson, NC, grandchildren, Eric, Derick, Christopher, Cade, Karli, Conner, Emma. Great grandchildren Kameron, Kylie, and Kenlee. Two sisters Dannie McInnis and Betty Parker, Brother Tommy Brigman and Brother-in-laws, Richard McInnis and Bennie Ervin Thompson and sister-in-law Patty Brigman all of Laurinburg, NC, sister in laws Dunnie Williams of Gibson, NC and Chestine Thompson of Lumberton, NC. A special niece, Capujene “Cab” Thompson Wright and husband Mitch Wright of Lumberton, NC.
Johnny will be remembered for his kindness; dependability and the many ways he served others. He leaves behind a legacy of Love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in the Seales Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday beginning 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
