John Jacobs of Laurinburg departed this life at the age of 77 on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
He was born April 24, 1948 in Scotland County, North Carolina, son of the late Rev. Daniel Jacobs and the late Lena Chavis Jacobs. John proudly served as a member of the United States Army. He was a talented employee of Locklear’s Construction working for many years. John faithfully served as a member of the House of Christ Church. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, and truly loved spending time with his family. John was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, William Jacobs; and grandchild, Devin Reeves.
John is survived by sons, Daniel Ray Jacobs of Myrtle Beach, SC, John Christopher Jacobs (Barbara) of Laurinburg, NC, Travis Jacobs of the home; daughter, Kim Medina (Jacob) of Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers, Delton Jacobs (Sandra) and Jimmy Jacobs each of Maxton; sisters, Sheila Chavis (Bender Ray) of Maxton, Martha Lucas (Michael) of Pembroke; sister-in-law, Betty Jacobs of Maxton; grandchildren, Dustin Sheppard, Sheri Sellers (Trina), Rebecca Davis (Jacob), John W. Jacobs, Amber Cansler (David), Courtney Poythress (Michael), Jasmine Knight (Brandon), Jimmy Reeves; thirteen great-grandchildren; special caregiver, Tonia McGirt; and mother of his children, Cynthia Tyndall; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in the House of Christ Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to services on Monday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
