John Howard Gibson, age 82 of Southern Pines, formerly of Laurinburg passed away, Tuesday, January 28, 2020.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Laurel Hill Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Don Malpass. Burial will follow in Gibson Cemetery.
John was born July 26, 1937 in Scotland County, a son of the late John Hugh Gibson and Dorothy Jacobs Gibson. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed his career as an independent truck driver. To his CB buddies, he was known as “Snaggle Tooth Rebel” and on his truck, “Johnny Reb”. He was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church, loved his cowboy boots, country music, and shopping. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a good friend who will truly be missed.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Hope Tucker and brother, Harold T. Gibson.
John is survived by his wife, Linda Gibson of Southern Pines; daughters, Christy Marie Pastrana (William) of Jackson Springs, Debbie Morris of Asheville, Tina Smith (Jody) of Murrells Inlet, SC and Kimberly Gibson of Hurst, TX; sons, Gary A. Gibson and Terry D. Gibson both of Asheville; seventeen grandchildren especially,Sawyer and Tucker, along with a host of loving family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2020 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
