Joe Ann Britt Hester

Joe Ann Britt Hester, age 81 of Laurinburg passed away to her Heavenly home on Thursday, May 2, 2019.

Joe Ann was a daughter of the late Roger and Eunice Benson Britt born February 11, 1938 in Bladen County, North Carolina.   She married her soul mate, Norwood Curtis Hester on July 8, 1962 and lovingly raised their family in a happy Christian home.  She retired from the Counseling Center at St. Andrews University in 1997 after 26 years of service.  She served as a faithful member of Cross Pointe Church, formerly East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church.  Joe Ann enjoyed gardening, traveling and truly loved sharing time with her family.   

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Elwood Britt, Billie Britt, Bennie Britt and sister, Mattie Britt.

Joe Ann leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Curtis Hester of their home; sons, Curt Hester, Jr., and wife Melanie of Laurel Hill, Greg Hester and wife Lisa of Denver; daughter, Lisa Sellers and husband Donnie of Laurinburg; a brother, John D. Britt of Dublin; sisters, Nelda McDuffie of Elizabethtown, Brenda Ray and husband Ken of Fayetteville; seven grandsons, one granddaughter, nine great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Cross Pointe Church with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park.   Visitation will be held prior to the service on Monday, beginning at 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Cross Pointe Church.

The family wishes to acknowledge with a special thank you to the loving staff of Scotland Regional Hospice and Morrison Manor.
