Jody Edward Russ

Jody Edward Russ, age 64 of Laurinburg, NC passed away on January 23, 2026.

He was born May 8, 1961 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, loving son of the late Robert Earl Russ, Sr., and the late Shelby Sansbury Russ. Jody was a valued team member with 42 years of employment with Campbell Soup Company until retiring. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing billiards, working on cars, and was an avid football fan.  His greatest joy came from time spent with family, especially his grandchildren. Jody was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will truly be missed.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Brett Russ.

Left to rejoice in his memory is wife, Rena Whitewater Russ of the home; son, Brandon Sweeley of Roanoke Rapids; stepson, Aaron Huggins, Jr., of Laurinburg; stepdaughter, Adrian Huggins of McColl, SC; brothers, Robert E. “Bubba” Russ, Jr., (Christine) of Laurinburg; S. Scott Russ of Wagram; sister, Linda Lynch (Kenneth) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Aiden Russ, Lilley Sweeley, Lucas Sweeley, and Adrianna Huggins; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday beginning 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
