Jimmy Gibson Obituary

Jimmy Preston Gibson was born July 1, 1946, son of the late Austin Columbus Gibson and Susan Margaret Newton Gibson of Marlboro County, South Carolina.  He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who truly loved sharing time with his family.  Growing up on the farm, Jimmy learned as a young man the importance of hard work.  He had a 19-year career with the Laurinburg & Southern Railroad.  He loved his work as a Heavy Equipment Operator known for moving the earth around.  He enjoyed riding his tractors and riding around in his truck.  He also strived to help others in need and had a special passion for animals.  Jimmy passed away at the age of 77 on February 26, 2024, a special man known and loved by many who will dearly be missed.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Matthew Brian McCue.

Jimmy leaves his loving wife, Karen Gibson of the home; sons, Jimmy Junior “J.J.” Gibson (Rose) of Raeford, Kevin Michael McCue (Sandra) of Sanford, Marcus Damian McCue (Allison) of Fayetteville; daughter, Lisa Gibson Coyles (Christopher) of Carthage; fourteen adored grandchildren, eleven cherished greatgrandchildren, and a host of many devoted friends.
