Jimmie Ray Hunt

Jimmie Ray Hunt, age 77 of Maxton, NC passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025.

He was born in Robeson County, NC on June 13, 1947, loving son of the late Devon and Lula Mae Locklear Hunt. Jimmie was a dedicated employee with the Laurinburg Housing Authority working in construction and maintenance for many years until retiring. He served as a faithful member of the Union Light Baptist Church. Jimmie loved being outdoors with a fishing rod in his hand or working in his garden. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Stephen Hunt, Willie French Hunt, Louis Hunt; and sisters, Lorraine Hunt Fiveash, Carolyn Hunt Bell, Uyon Hunt Sandoval, Rosea Lynn Hunt Graham, and Jennifer Ann Hunt.

Left to cherish his memory is beloved wife of 54 years, Martha Lee Hunt of the home; sons, Kevin Hunt and Erik Hunt both of Maxton; daughters, Felicia Hunt (Jr.) and Ronetta Hunt (Jenn) also of Maxton; sister, Pamela Hunt of Rowland; grandchildren, Ashley Hunt (Bubba), Jeremy Hunt (Ab), Nakiyah Hunt, Carrie Hunt, Ethan Hunt, Cameron Oxendine, Rhiannon Clark, Harley Clark, George Clark, Anthony Carter; great-grandchildren, Chavez “Doodle”, Ella, Ava “Noodle” Kiylenna, Fayth “Scoot”, and Charlotte; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Liberty Hospice and nurses, Felisha and Cierra for their compassionate care.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Union Light Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
