Jesse James “Jim” Mintz, Jr., of Laurel Hill passed to his Heavenly home at the age of 80 on February 2, 2025.
Jim was the son of the late Jesse James Mintz, Sr., and the late Lois Britt Mintz born December 21, 1944 in Marlboro County, South Carolina. He was a proud Veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps. His life was about helping others serving many years in Law Enforcement with the Scotland County Sheriff Department. He later began his own business of Mintz Nursery.
An avid outdoorsman, Jim loved hunting, fishing, golfing, yard work and wood working. He also enjoyed his quiet time watching westerns on television. Jim faithfully served many years as a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church. Above all, his greatest joy came from sharing time with his family. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and friend who will dearly be missed by all.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by all of his siblings, Lewis “Butch” Mintz, Shirley Casebolt, Patsy Schwechtje, Geraldine Mintz.
Jim leaves behind his wife Judy Ivey Mintz of their home; son Michael “Mike” James Mintz (Angela) of Laurinburg; daughter, Tabitha Mintz of High Point, Kimberly Mintz of Laurel Hill; seven adoring grandchildren, Chelsie Oyola (Jaime), Shawn Mintz, Jessica Mintz, Dylan Taylor, Katie Mintz, Nicholas Mintz, Cameron Mintz, and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and many devoted friends.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4th at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Monday evening, February 3rd from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
The family requests donations be given in Jim’s memory to the Laurel Hill Baptist Church.
