Jerry Eugene Fields was born July 27, 1950 in Scotland County, son of Evelyn Byrd Fields and the late William Franklin Fields and was husband to Nancy Rogers Fields. He worked many years in auto sales for Baker Chevrolet and was a member of Wagram Church of God. Jerry enjoyed working on cars and was known for his love of baking. He also loved children and was talented in painting, crafting, and collecting Precious Moments figurines. Jerry was dedicated to his family and loved spending time with them. He will truly be missed as a devoted husband, loving father, brother, uncle, and friend. Jerry passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 70 on May 28, 2021.
Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Fields.
Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife, Nancy Fields of the home; son, Stephen B. Mangum of St. Paul; mother, Evelyn Byrd Fields of Laurinburg; sisters, Patricia Taylor, Phyllis Holcomb, Brenda Stewart (Cecil), and Donna Faircloth (Steve); his K-9 companion, Minnie Mouse, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Wagram Church of God, officiated by Rev. Ricky Brewer. Burial will follow in Alloway Cemetery, Red Springs. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be given to the family or mailed to P.O. Box 1913, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
