Jean Irene Chavis

Jean Irene Chavis, age 60 of Maxton passed away July 22, 2021.

Jean was born January 14, 1961 in Scotland County, daughter of the late Earlene Hewitt. She was a homemaker who enjoyed working in her garden, flowers, and loved dancing. Jean dedicated her life to family as a homemaker and spending time with grandchildren brought her the most joy. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Along with her mother, she is preceded in death by brothers, Danny Chavis, Charles Chavis; special nieces and nephews, David Goins, Angie Goins, Thomas Goins, and Teresa Locklear.

She leaves behind her fiancé, Pops Tawney of the home; son, Jason Chavis (Emmalee Collins); daughter, Tonya Locklear (Mickey); sisters, Mildred Doss (Mitchell), Geraldine Luther (Wiley), Peggy Locklear, Joyce Barton (Daryl), and her twin sister, Janet Beasley (Jimmy); grandchildren, Alona Locklear, Ava Locklear, RyLee Collins, Grayson Chavis, PaizLee Chavis, along with many nieces, nephews, including a special niece, Denise Norton, and a host of loving family.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
