Jason Luther Locklear, age 74 of Laurinburg departed this life for his Heavenly home on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
Born December 8, 1948 in Robeson County, North Carolina, son of the late John K. Locklear, Sr and the late Lizzie Strickland Locklear. His life work was in farming which he loved doing until his retirement. Jason was a faithful member of Turnpike Baptist Church where he loved worshipping and formerly served as the Church Treasurer. In his leisure time he enjoyed crafting, absolutely loved fishing, and hunting and being a member of the Shoeheel Hunting Club. Jason was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle whose greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, George Locklear and James Albert Locklear.
Left to cherish Jason’s memory is his beloved wife of 47 years, Lorie Ann McLean Locklear of the home; step-daughter, Peggy Locklear; brothers, Alton Lee Locklear, Walter Harris Locklear, John K. Locklear Jr.; sisters, Effie Jane Lowery, Doris Evans, Judy Duran; sister-in-law, Julie Locklear; grandchildren, Abby Gail Cook and Brandon Cook; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him greatly.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Turnpike Baptist Church with burial following in the Locklear Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Wednesday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Turnpike Baptist Church.
