Janis "Diane" Barber Morton

Janis “Diane” Barber Morton, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother passed away on her 73rd birthday the morning of March 7, 2025.

She was the daughter of the late Edmond and Juanita Tucker Barber born March 7, 1952 in Laurinburg, NC.   Diane married her forever sweetheart Jimmy on June 17, 1970 cherishing their family and life together.  She enjoyed her career in banking working with First Bank for over 20 years caring for customers with her bright and beautiful smile. She and her family enjoyed attending worship at the Springfield Church of God.  Diane also enjoyed her time exercising, shopping, cooking for her family along with reading and sewing.  Her greatest joy came from sharing time with her children and grandchildren who will deeply miss her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved sister, Kathy Baber Dutch.

Diane is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Jimmy Ray Morton of their home; daughters, Christy Walters (Gary) and Jennifer Morton both of Laurinburg; three grandchildren, Jordan Walters, Kelsey Walters, Dylan Walters; four great grandchildren, Caleb Walters, Mason Walters, Delaney Walters, Aria Walters; along with a host of loving family and devoted friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at the Springfield Church of God with burial following in Pinecrest Cemetery.   Visitation with the family will be held prior to services on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
