James “Tracy” Gibson of Laurinburg, NC departed this life at the age of 82 on October 3, 2025.
He was the loving son of the late Tracy Henry Gibson and the late Annie Laura Grant Gibson, born September 25, 1943 in Scotland County, NC. Tracy enjoyed his work as a crane operator with NSG formerly L.O.F., Pilkington Glass Company until retiring. He faithfully served as a member of the East Laurinburg Baptist Church. Tracy was a people person who loved conversations about anything, especially the good times spent in “East Laurinburg”. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years, collecting old coins, and had an impressive collection of baseball cards. Tracy was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Lewis Gibson; daughter, Sandy Foreman; brothers, Bill Gibson, Prince Neal, Frankie Neal, James Neal; and sisters, Doris Cummings and Alice Boone.
Tracy is survived by sons, James “Jamie” Tracy Gibson (Amber) of Laurinburg, Jerry Wayne Gibson (Valerie) of Laurinburg; stepsons, Lee Mumford (Lynn) of Macon, GA, Daniel Lacy Mumford (Pamela) of Camp Hill, PA; stepdaughter, Tina Denise Mumford or Aberdeen; sister, Betty Regan of Maxton; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Laurinburg Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 beginning 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
