James Allen Parker, Sr., lovingly known as “Ookie” passed away at the age of 64 on August 25, 2023.
James was born March 30, 1959, loving son of the late William Eugene Parker and the late Lena Joyce Lewis Parker of Scotland County. He had a long career with the Campbell Soup Company retiring after 28 years of service. In his leisure time, Ookie enjoyed working on cars, fishing, watching NASCAR and NHRA racing. He also enjoyed playing tunes on his guitar. He will dearly be missed as a loving father and grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Along with his parents, preceding in death are son-in-law, Adam Vallandingham; sister, Pansy Parker Ingram and brother-in-law, Billy Ingram
Surviving are his son, James “JJ” Allen Parker, Jr., ( Tiffini ) of Laurinburg; his daughter, Jamie Leigh Parker Vallandingham of Bennettsville, SC; brothers, Donald Parker and wife, Brenda of Laurinburg, Kenny Parker and wife Mary of Laurinburg; sister, Ann Parker Howarth and husband, Chuck of Tennessee; five adored grandchildren, Adam “AJ” Vallandingham, Jordan Parker, Aadyn Jenks, Kaia Strickland, Easton Parker,; loving nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel followed by the graveside committal service in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will have a time of visitation prior to services on Tuesday beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
