James Kenneth "Ken" Pruitte

James Kenneth “Ken” Pruitte, Sr., age 56 of Laurel Hill departed this life on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

Ken was the son of the late James Alvin Pruitte and the late Brenda Sue Williams Starner, born August 20, 1967 in Scotland County, NC. For many years, Ken worked with Eaton Corporation/Golf Pride and later as a Supervisor with the Scotland County Parks & Recreation. He enjoyed all sports, especially fishing, and raising chickens. He also loved watching a variety of old western movies.  Ken was a loving husband, adored father and grandfather, and devoted brother who treasured time shared with his family, especially his grandchildren. His family and friends will dearly miss him and fondly remember his special phrases, “Sooky-Sooky” and “Yes Sir”.  

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his precious daughter, Gabrielle Pruitte.

Left to rejoice in his memory is his beloved wife, Shirl Ray Pruitte of the home; son, James Kenneth “Ken” Pruitte, Jr., (Lela Walters) of Laurel Hill; daughters, Catherine “Austin” Pruitte (Thomas Wallace) of Laurel Hill, Kennedy Faith Pruitte of Raeford; brother, Christopher “Chris” Blake Pruitte (Carol) of Laurel Hill; sister, Paula Pruitte Fairley of Raeford; his grandchildren, Kameron Locklear, Abigail Locklear, Ariya Wallace, Karah Wallace; along with a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Woodville Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial following in the Church Cemetery.    The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
