James "Carl" English

James “Carl” English of Bennettsville, South Carolina departed this life at the age of 80 on June 2, 2026.

He was born May 4, 1946 in Scotland County, NC, loving son of the late Lonnie and Litlie Paul English. Carl was the owner/operator of English Pine Needles for many years until retiring. He faithfully served as a member of the Ghio Church of God of Prophecy. Carl was a hard worker who enjoyed being outside tending to his garden, working on the tractors, and especially coon hunting. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family and many friends. Carl will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by sons, Keith Darren English, Carl Mark English, and Dan Michael English; daughter, Julie English; siblings, Ida Norton, Eliza Robson, Percy English, Lonnie English, David English, Hubert Lee English, and Billy Melvin English.

Left to cherish his memory is his adored wife, Maggie Knight English of the home; sons, Clint English (Allyson), Joshua “Dan” English both of Bennettsville, SC; brothers, Wesley English of Ghio, SC; and grandchildren, Tiffany English and Hannah English; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Richard Boles Funeral Service. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, at the Ghio Church of God of Prophecy followed by burial in the Steen Cemetery.
