James Ronald “Boo Boo” Cooper, of Laurinburg passed away at the age of 66 on February 7, 2025.
James was one of ten children of the late Henry Harrison Cooper, Sr., and the late Inez Locklear Cooper born July 25, 1958 in Scotland County, NC. He was nicknamed by a brother as “Boo Boo”, and in his younger years, James was enviously known for his great swimming and diving skills. He loved his career in farming especially while riding his tractor. He also enjoyed fast cars and talking smack to his family and friends.
Along with his parents, preceding him in death are brothers, Gary Cooper, Henry Thomas Cooper, Hilton Cooper; and sister, Gladys Cooper James.
He is survived by his daughter, Lakisha Cooper of Red Springs; brothers, Woodrow Cooper of Red Springs, Robert Cooper (Vicky) of St. Pauls, Henry Cooper Jr., (Janice) of Red Springs; sisters, Geneva Hill of Tennessee and Lucille Brayboy (Ronnie) of Maxton; his former wife, Susan Bullard Cooper; four grandchildren, Jordan Lowry, Daniel Lowry, Cody Lowry, Precious Lowery; seven great grandchildren, Erial Lowry, Arial Lowry, Danielle Lowry, Danny Lowry, McKenzie Lowry, Haven Lowry, Preston Lowery; along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 12th at the Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church. Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. Family time will be from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
