James Earl Shoemake, age 77 of McColl, South Carolina passed away Sunday, September 15, 2019.
James, a son of the late John Arch Shoemake and Myrtie Roberts Shoemake was born January 16, 1942 in Marlboro County, South Carolina. He retired after many years from Oak River Mill and served as a member of Fletcher’s Chapel Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and making crafts. He enjoyed attending high school football games and was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan. It brought him great joy when he spent time with family and friends. James will always be remembered as a dedicated father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Bernice Beach, Naomi Locklear and grandson, Bobby Hubbard.
James is survived by his son, Darrell Shoemake (Joanna) of McColl, SC; daughters, Diane Shoemake Hubbard and Karen Shoemake Tyner (George), all of Sanford, NC; brother, Billy Shoemake (JoAnn) of Laurel Hill, NC; sister, Gerald Lewellen of McColl, SC; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, special friend Bertha Hodge of Bennettsville, SC, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Fletcher’s Chapel Wesleyan Church in McColl, officiated by Pastor Andy Stewart. Burial will follow in Fletcher’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday beginning at 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. at the church.
