James Lenzie Russell, Jr.

James “Jimmy” Lenzie Russell, Jr. was born September 7, 1951 in Jacksonville, Florida, son of the late James Lenzie Russell, Sr. and Martha Sue Higginbotham Russell. He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp, enjoying his travels during his time of service. He then went into the construction business serving Laurinburg and the surrounding communities for many years. Jimmy enjoyed riding in the rodeo and was an avid NASCAR and San Francisco 49ers fan. He also enjoyed watching wrestling on television. Jimmy was a good ‘ol boy who never met a stranger and was known as a Jack of all Trades. Jimmy will be missed by all who knew him. He passed away at age 70 on December 24, 2021.

He is survived by his son, Tyler Mathie of Laurel Hill and sister, Dawn Ruger of Waycross, GA, along with his extended family.

A Memorial service will be at 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

A private interment will be at a later date.
