James Allen Bryant, age 81 of Laurinburg passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
James was one of nine children of the late Walter and Mary Jacobs Bryant born June 9, 1942 in Robeson County. He worked in textiles with Waverly Mills retiring after twenty years of dedicated service. He enjoyed attending the Charity Outreach Church of God. He enjoyed watching sports especially football and baseball, loved music and playing his guitar. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Jessie Willard Bryant, Chesley “Pop” Bryant, John Walter Bryant, and Roy Lee Bryant.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Virginia Locklear Bryant; son, James Allen “Peewee” Bryant, Jr. (Emalee) of Laurinburg; daughters, Cynthia Lynn Bryant of Laurinburg, Tabitha Lynn Berry of Gibson; brothers, Thomas Bryant of Hamlet, Earl Bryant of Laurinburg; sisters, Mary Jane Bryant of Laurel Hill, Betty Haywood of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Tara Locklear (Kevin), Taylor Tyndall, Madison Berry, Kaleb Bryant; and great-grandchildren, Iziah Locklear and Angelea Locklear; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to services on Friday beginning at 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
