James Arnold Locklear was born in Scotland County on October 12, 1948. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Grooms Locklear; daughters, Donna Locklear, Barbara Anne Locklear; and brother, Billy Ray Locklear. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Locklear Zenteno (Santiago) and seven grandchildren all of Fayetteville; one sister, Betty Locklear of Hamlet; two brothers, Tom Locklear (Elouise) of Laurel Hill, Elmore Locklear of Wilmington; special nieces, Ashley Clark, Phyllis Ann Locklear; and special friend, George Locklear; along with a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was a self-employed devoted truck driver for over 53 years, which took him all along the east coast. In the later years he drove part time for TG Gibson Farms, as well as volunteered at his local food bank. James loved to fish and go to the auction sells with his brothers. He also enjoyed Sunday dinners with family at his sister’s house. James will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with a private interment at a later date.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
