SFC Jackson “Jack” Lee Pittman, US Army, Retired of Pickens, SC, formerly of Laurinburg, NC departed this life for his Heavenly home at the age of 96 on May 21, 2024.
Jackson was born December 26, 1927 in Robeson County, North Carolina, a loving son of the late James Bethel Pittman and the late Emma Todd Pittman. Jack proudly served his country first with the United States Navy, then National Guard until enlisting with the United States Army. During his 23-year military career, Mr. Pittman bravely served in two tours of the Vietnam War and proudly retired as Sergeant First Class. He faithfully served God and was a devoted member of the Springfield Church of God where he loved helping with all needs of the church. He was a true family man who cherished time share with each of his loved ones. Jack will be remembered for his love of God, family and country. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who will be greatly missed.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his adored wife and princess of 62 years, Dorothy “Dot” Lucille Coates Pittman; precious granddaughters, Nicole Taylor and Nuletta Smith; brother, James C. (JC) Pittman, David J. Pittman; sister, Mary Lee Caulder;
Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Jannett L. Trotter (Rev. Sammy Trotter) of Pickens, SC, Dorothy “Ronota” Bass (Alton Bass) of Laurinburg, NC; brother, Hubert J. Pittman, and sister, Emmer Mae Wade both of Laurinburg; seven beloved grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Springfield Church of God. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to services on Wednesday, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. the Springfield Church of God.
