Jackie Wayne Lawrence

On March 21, 2023, Mr. Jackie Wayne Lawrence of Laurinburg departed this life for his Heavenly home. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a wonderful friend whose warm smile and loving spirit will be greatly missed.

Jackie was born April 6, 1945 to the late Fred Dewey Lawrence and the late Thelma Clark Lawrence. On a beautiful day in July 1963, Jackie joined his beloved Linda Smith Lawrence in a celebration of love and marriage. Together they shared 59 wonderful years together until her passing in November 2022.

Jackie was an invaluable team member for Sonoco Paper Products where he worked for many dedicated years as a Plant Manager until his retirement. He took great pleasure in volunteering in his community and working as the hands and feet of Jesus with Sandhills Emmaus Walk. Jackie was a very talented and creative woodworker who also had a passion for restoring cars and trucks.  He served as a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, and wife Linda, he is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Baby Girl Lawrence.

Left to cherish his memory are sons, Michael Lawrence (Debbie) of Laurinburg, NC, and Todd Lawrence (Betsy) of Rock Hill, SC; his adored grandchildren, Taylor Lawrence “Jessica Wayne” Locklear (Donald Locklear, Jr.), Chris Lawrence (Gabby Locklear), Morgan Lawrence Wilson (Jamie Wilson), and Justin Lawrence; great grandchildren, Kash Locklear, Mila Wilson and Waylon Lawrence.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023 at First United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be prior to the services from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023 at the church.
