Jack Williams Obituary

SFC Jack Douglas Williams, Ret US Army, age 89 of Laurinburg passed away on May 5, 2021.

Jack was the son of the late Burney Douglas Williams and Emma Katherine White Williams born October 9, 1931 in Bluefield, West Virginia.  He was a proud retired United States Army Veteran serving our nation with over 21 years of service. During his military career, Jack specialized with the Corps of Engineers, awarded with many medals to include The Bronze Star Medal.   Following his military service, he began his Electrical Engineering career with LOF / Pilkington Glass and retired after many years. A man of many talents, Jack loved building computers and computer games.  He enjoyed the sport of shooting, building and repairing firearms.  He was also a talented and published writer.  He will be remembered for his dedicated service to his country and the devoted love he gave to his family.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death his wife in 2003, Mollie Mae Bodiford Williams; infant daughter, Elizabeth Williams; grand daughter, Alyssa Mae Williams and each of his siblings.

Surviving are his children, sons, Richard “Ricky” Williams of Laurel Hill, Kenneth Williams of Laurinburg, and daughter, Debra W. Hadley of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Jessica Simmons, Michell Hunt, Eric Williams, Evan Williams, Brett Williams, Christopher Young, Scott Downer and fifteen great grandchildren.   He also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Christopher Young.   Burial with military honors will follow the service in Oak Grove Cemetery, Maxton, NC.   The family will receive friends prior to services from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations are requested to be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
