Jack Pearson Obituary

Jack Bruce Pearson of Ghio, North Carolina passed away August 25, 2020. He was born August 30, 1934. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Phyllis Lamm Pearson of Clarksburg, West Virginia.

Jack was the youngest of five children, born to ZV and Virginia Graham Pearson. After graduating high school in Gibson, he spent eight years in the military service during and after the Korean War Conflict. He was also associated with Special Forces training at Camp McColl.

After military service, he was associated with the CSX Railroad and was elected Local Chairman by the membership of the United Transportation Union (UTU) for seven 4-year terms by the membership of the General Committee of the UTU over the entire CSX Railroad, giving him the longest tenure as an elected official of his union.

Mr. Pearson graduated from Biscayne Southern College of Tampa, Florida (Charlotte Campus) in 1976 with an Associates Degree as a legal assistant. In addition to work-related achievements throughout his life, he also served as past Master of East Gate Masonic Lodge 693 in Charlotte, and was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Amvets. Mr. Pearson was a member of the Tabernacle Methodist Church, Ghio, NC, for many years.

He is preceded in death by three brothers, James Henry “Pete” Pearson of Gibson, Zeb Vance “Nelson” Pearson, Jr. of Charlotte, William Walter Pearson of Gibson and sister, Lorraine Pearson Stubbs of Ghio.

Mr. Pearson is survived by daughters, Kimberly Pearson Fennell of Mount Holly, NC and Susan Pearson Dry of Mount Pleasant, NC; grandsons, Chad Fennell, David Dry; granddaughters, Carolyn Dry, Reid Fennell Cook, and one great granddaughter, Noelle Cook, as well as numerous nephews and nieces with whom he shared a very close relationship.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Oxford’s Masonic Children’s Orphanage in Oxford, NC will be appreciated.

A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020 in Pinecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at graveside.

 

COVID-19 mandates require facial masks or coverings and attendance for all services will be limited.
